A superb cluster of fossil trilobites, Austerops sp., from the Middle Devonian (Eifelian Stage) Bou Tchrafine Formation, Jorf, Morocco. This specimen dates to approximately 390–393 million years ago, from the warm, shallow tropical seas that once covered the Anti-Atlas region of North Africa.

Austerops is a phacopid trilobite celebrated among collectors for its striking schizochroal compound eyes — a complex optical system unique to phacopid trilobites, with individual lenses clearly visible under magnification. The genus is endemic to the Devonian of Morocco and is one of the most visually impressive trilobites available to collectors.

The Bou Tchrafine Formation at Jorf is a well-regarded Devonian fossil locality producing phacopid trilobites of excellent quality. A bold, characterful specimen that commands attention in any display.
