A substantial and impressive piece of ancient ocean history — this fossilised ammonite weighs 500 grams and showcases the iconic coiled form of one of the most successful marine creatures to ever inhabit the seas. Ammonites were cephalopod molluscs that thrived for over 300 million years, surviving multiple mass extinction events before finally disappearing at the end of the Cretaceous period 66 million years ago alongside the non-avian dinosaurs.

At 500 grams, this is a commanding specimen with real display presence — the coiled whorls, surface ribbing, and overall symmetry of the shell are preserved in excellent detail, telling the story of a creature that once navigated ancient seas with remarkable sophistication. The internal chambers of the ammonite shell, connected by a tube called the siphuncle, allowed the animal to regulate its buoyancy much like a modern nautilus.
