Sliced Polished Ammonite – 120g
A cross-section through deep time — this sliced and polished ammonite weighs 120 grams and reveals the extraordinary internal architecture of one of the ocean's most iconic ancient creatures. Ammonites were cephalopod molluscs that ruled the seas for over 300 million years before their extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period, and their coiled, chambered shells are among the most recognisable and beautiful fossils in the world.
Slicing and polishing the ammonite reveals the internal septa — the dividing walls between the shell's chambers — in stunning detail. The suture lines where these walls meet the outer shell create intricate, fern-like patterns that are unique to each specimen. The polished surface brings out the natural lustre of the preserved shell material, often displaying warm amber, cream, and brown tones.
